 La energía solar se ha utilizado desde la antigüedad para trabajos domésticos, agrícolas y de transporte. Pero fue a partir del descubrimiento del efecto fotovoltaico en 1839 por Edmond Becquerel que posteriormente llevó a otros investigadores como Charles Fritts en 1893 a construir la primera célula solar. El interés por proteger el medio ambiente y reducir los efectos del calentamiento global, y con él ha habido un auge en el uso masivo de este tipo de dispositivos, aplicados incluso en el hogar con el fin de reducir costes y reducir el consumo de energía eléctrica convencional. lo que se ha visto es una de las causas del deterioro ambiental. Por eso es necesario comprender cómo funciona la tecnología en la actualidad, así como la innovación y avance físico y químico que contiene cada una de las propiedades de este dispositivo
